new product development product roadmap development market research channel sales prototypingJust be Woodsy is seeking innovative ideas to expand its product line with affordable, functional, and fun wood products made from locally sourced Toronto wood. The goal is to research and prototype five unique wood products that appeal to a broad audience, emphasizing creativity and practicality. This project allows learners to apply their knowledge of product design, material science, and market research. The team will explore sustainable practices, ensuring the products are in line with Woodsy's use of fallen Toronto trees and cost-effective. By the end of the project, learners will have developed prototypes that showcase their ability to blend aesthetics with functionality, catering to the needs of eco-conscious consumers in Toronto and beyond.

- Design and prototype five wood products using Toronto wood.
- Ensure all products are affordable and sustainable.
- Present findings and prototypes to Just be Woodsy for feedback.
The project deliverables include a comprehensive report and five prototypes. The report should detail the research process, design criteria, and rationale behind each product choice. Prototypes must demonstrate the feasibility and appeal of the designs, accompanied by a presentation to Just be Woodsy.

Small Business Family-Owned Sustainable/green Social Enterprise Public benefit corporation (pbc) Community-FocusedWe are on a mission to make better use of fallen trees in Toronto. Instead of seeing these century old trees chipped for mulch, we are transforming them into beautiful pieces ideal for Toronto Spaces. Celebrating the trees that form the fabric of our City and helping us reconnect with the Urban Forest. We are a call to action to build a better system.
We work with the City Forestry, local arborists, the University of Toronto and Toronto Community Housing to return logs that would otherwise be ground into wood chips back to the place in which they came. Tracking the logs and passing on the provenance of the tree by engraving onto each piece.
