PROJECT DESCRIPTION/DESCRIPTION DU PROJET: Saskatchewan Association of Recreation Professionals is a member organization committed to the recreation professional by representing and supporting current and future recreation professionals. Our mission is to advance the recreation profession through networking, education, and advocacy. We're a small organization with a volunteer board of directors, one permanent staff person and two part-time contract staff. We're small but mighty! The pandemic has restricted our ability to serve our membership well, but we're working hard to emerge from this pandemic stronger than ever. As part of this work, the Board of Directors has formed an ad hoc committee called the Pathway to Professional Status Committee. This committee is working to explore the development of a pathway to professional status for recreational professionals who are currently employed in the recreation field or a related field within Saskatchewan and have not graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution with a Diploma or higher in the area of recreation. We acknowledge that those who work in recreation come to the industry from diverse educational and professional backgrounds, and that there are many qualified people working in the recreation industry in Saskatchewan that do not meet the requirements for S.A.R.P.'s professional membership category. Therefore, this project will be an investigative project to conduct market research into the positions in the recreation industry in Saskatchewan. This project will be great for you if you are able to do some work during the day (as well as during the evening), are able to work independently and like to think creatively and do investigative work. KEY PROJECT ACTIVITIES/TÂCHES ASSOCIÉES AU PROJET: Research for market assessment - this will include searching websites, emailing individuals for their contact information, and calling them, as necessary. Compilation of a database - building an excel spreadsheet with relevant details. IDEAL ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES/RÔLES/RESPONSABILITÉS:* Communicating through email, phone calls, & virtual meeting (must be comfortable with contacting strangers to speak about the project, or working on this skillset) Online research (i.e., web search) Problem solving FINAL PROJECT DELIVERABLES/LIVRABLES DU PROJET: An excel spreadsheet containing a database. A short report of the work completed, the work you were not able to complete (ex. if you were not able to get ahold of people or if they would not cooperate, etc), and your findings.
